Jérémie Piazza is great.
He plays drums, guitar - simultaneously or not - and writes music, sometimes. He likes food.
He adapts to different contexts (improvised music, baroque music, rock ’n’ roll, dance accompaniment...).
Jérémie Piazza plays with many famous people. Thank you.
He started at a very young age, drumming on cushions in time with his favourite records. After studying guitar and double bass, he continued his training in jazz and classical percussion at the Conservatory of Rouen. He then pursued his studies at the Université de Rouen, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Musicology.
He is a member of Papanosh, a quintet that is famous on jazz scenes around the world and collaborates with artists such as Roy Nathanson, Marc Ribot, Napoleon Maddox, Fidel Fourneyron and André Minvielle. Papanosh's records are acclaimed by critics (“CHOC” Jazz Magazine, “Indispensable” Jazz News, “ELU” Citizen Jazz ...).
You may have heard him play in big bands with Le Sacre du Tympan by Fred Pallem ("Cartoons": music from cartoons and video games), L'Orchestre National de Jazz (by Frédéric Maurin), La Compagnie Lubat or Tous Dehors!
He performs regularly with the brass trio Journal Intime, as well as with Vélo (with Benjamin Sauzereau and Hendrik Vanattenhoven) and La Costa Vieira (with Fabrice Vieira and Fawzi Berger).
Jérémie Piazza also played with artists such as Little Bob, Brad Scott, Ramsay Midwood, both in France and abroad.
Together with concert viol player Ronan Kernoa, he created the Duo Chronos. The project explores a free dialogue between drums and viola da gamba, between the baroque repertoire and improvisation.
He gives solo concerts, performing a totally improvised and intimate repertoire. Or not.
Jérémie Piazza is drum teacher and dance-accompaniment instructor at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Rouen from 2009 to 2015. He lives in Brussels since 2014.
